The most important thing in life

After so long without writing, I’ve read again all the subjects that I’ve been writing about. And I found myself surprised of not writing a particular article about what I consider it’s the most important thing in life.
(Small update: actually, I did write once about it, but it was not an exclusive article, like this one)

The article picture is a spoiler, but let’s pretend that you did not see it.

People consider other people as the most important.
People consider health as the most important thing.
People consider money as the most important thing.

Now, all the above is REALLY important. However, there is something that is IMHO more important, because of
And that is time.

Health comes and goes, according to our discipline.
Money also comes and goes.
Even people come and go. Some to never return again.

But time does not come and go. People has only one direction. Time comes once, and goes once, and it NEVER returns.
The quote of “make up for lost time” is an oxymoron.

Right, you think that you make up for lost time if you do things faster today July 31st.
But you won’t have again the hours you wasted yesterday on July 30th.

Although I consider the most important thing I have, I’ve usually waste it, and I probably continue wasting it.
It would be great to use time trying to be happy, and make happy to the people that we consider important.
Without risking our health, and with a responsible use of money (as I may probably have said somewhere before, money is for use, not for waste).

Making the above less abstract: one day has 24hs, you have 2 ways to not waste time:

  • doing exactly what you’ve planned (and maybe achieving objectives)
  • reaching ‘eternal instants’ (right, another oxymoron).

Believe me, if you can achieve something of these two, I am preety sure that by the end of day, you won’t feel that you’ve wasted your time.

 

Sweet dreams

I usually dream with beloved ones that have passed away.
I bring them back to life and they give me a hug.

Instead of just closing my eyes and enjoy the hug…I ask myself tons of rational questions, until the hug ends…until the dream ends.

When you are asleep it is hard to take the lead, but when you are awake…your dreams are your objectives.

Use your conciousness to find threats and weak points, to make your dreams STRONGER. Don’t let your conciousness destroy them.

Using difficult words, I thought about naming it: selective sensitivity of environment.
In easy words: know what to pay attention, and what not.
This is something common, and people that REACH their objectives have this ability. Worldwide known people, and anonymous ones. And it goes far beyond just focusing: these ‘different’ people can decide where to put their attention, in a very smart way.

Five Things for 2015

There is a phrase that says “If something good, if it’s brief, it’s twice as good”. I’ll try to keep things short.

For several years, I found myself at the end of the year, doing a balance of the year coming to its end, and also enumerating wishes and objectives for next year. This usually was private, more for a ritual than for its content. Considering that this is the first year with my own active blog, why shouldn’t I publish this?
Maybe they are brief, they are simple, but despite this, those objectives have PREVIOUSLY been objectives in my life and I could not accomplish them, it’s quite hard for me.
Of course I’m excluding any personal and about feelings, that would be still private, no need to publish.
I hope in 2015:
  1. less words and more actions.
  2. there will be NO excuses.
  3. each objective, will have its own plan, and its own follow-up.
  4. I will work hard in myself (physically and intellectually).
  5. effort and keeping it up, will allow me to say at the end of the year that I MADE IT.
The important thing here, is that nothing of this will be found in the Christmas Tree, it depends 100% on me.
Sometimes, I feel able to achieve this and much more. It’s curious, but I will remember 2014 because I had that feeling quite often, so brave. It’s a pity that at this moment, I read this and I don’t believe it. In any case, the first step when talking about objectives, is to be clear about the WHAT, and then, about the HOW.
Have a great 2015 !!! It depends on you :)

But, can you disagree? Can you disagree with your idol?
Of course you can. And my case of study is Jim Rohn, but it can be your idol of life, it can be a friend, a relative, a friend of a friend, your boss, a guy on the TV or internet, or anyone that you have the luck of enjoying ALMOST a constant agreement.

6 questions that may help you to have a better life

Today, I’ve managed to put together this list of questions. It’s not the first time that I’ve asked and answered them, eventually, and each one separated from the rest.

Remarkably, I usually answer 0 (ZERO) for most of the questions.

There is something worse than answering 0, which is not paying enough attention of that, which means: doing NOTHING to change those answers.
And I think that the worst of it all: is NOT even take 10 minutes of your time, to just ASK these questions. Yes! this shouln’t take more than 10 minutes!!!

I always receive feedback, evaluations, I evaluate myself over several aspects. But in the rush of every day of your life, I usually forget the important.

You may find helpful to ask this EVERY WEEK OF YOUR LIFE:

About your last week:

  1. Number of days used to make exercise?
  2. Number of days used to read a book?
  3. Number of days used to learn something new?
  4. Number of days used to teach something new?
  5. Number of days used to INTENTIONALLY get closer to my dreams and future plans?
  6. Number of days used to INTENTIONALLY be happy?

These are just 6 questions, and I am sure that you can customize this in order to have a list that suits you better.
Feel free to ADD YOUR OWN (useful) questions.

I hope that for most of them, you can write down “7″ as an answer.
And even for the last 2 items, which may result somewhat abstract and/or poetical, I hope that 7 days a week are not enough for you. If so, THAT may represent a great life.
If you paid attention, I didn’t focus on the results, but on the actions.

And most of all, I honestly hope that you ask yourself these questions NOW, instead of the day that you are dying.
You probably didn’t hear about Bronnie Ware. This nurse listened to the most common regrets of dying people, and wrote an article, and a book about it. It’s not my intention to add noise where there is already a lot on internet. You can Google her to see what I am talking about.

This article has the objective to avoid you to regret, but to build the life that you want.
No regrets. Just plans, and actions that make those plans a REALITY. Pursue your happiness, every week, every day.

Beware of SEO – Serious Excessive Obviousness

I know that ignoring SEO can be a shoot in the foot, nowadays.

You cannot simply consider this deal at all: You ignore SEO, and search engines will ignore your site. Therefore, potential new users will ignore your site too.

What is the problem here?
I am not sure if it’s too obvious, or if I started looking to web sites with ‘Search Engine eyes’, but the result is that I can be easily pissed off.

I don’t know you, but I try to take care of my eyes. I don’t need obvious content.
And from time to time, it happens again!

Let’s say that I searched some information about “SOME PLACE” to visit. The result is something like this:

If you want to travel to SOME PLACE, don’t forget to consider our great discounts at SOME PLACE. You may probably ask if there is a good weather at SOME PLACE. That question, is part of the frequently asked questions about SOME PLACE.
And the answer to that question is that the weather during summer at SOME PLACE is excellent.

By the way, I’ve been there. No, not at “SOME PLACE”, but… unfortunately I have been that kind of webmaster who generated that kind of content.
And after my 15 minutes of fame, which in this context means being in the 1st. page of search results, Google finally sent my page, to the place it deserves, which is having dozens of pages before mine.
Bonus track: The search list

If redundant content is not enough, we can also annoy human visitors with this:

The searches that led to this page, of course!
(Seriously???!!! Completely irrelevant)

  • hotels in SOME PLACE
  • cheap hotels in SOME PLACE
  • questions about SOME PLACE
  • weather at SOME PLACE
  • etc.. in a never ending scroll. Pity.

Please, remember that your website CONTENT should be written for users, and not for search engines. And, if you are smart enough, you can create content that will make both happy. No one will be pissed off. A win/win/win situation for the user, the search engine, and your site.

Oh, you’re doing great at SEO. Ok, just don’t forget the user!

Xouscast 3 – Receiving negative feedback

For the way that I see it, it is the start of a path of improvement.

You may receive positive or negative feedback. And the obvious is that everyone prefers to receive or give positive feedback. I’d like to expose some concepts about receiving negative feedback.

Using the half-empty, half-full glass of water analogy, I will make you think about it. And of couse: your feedback is welcome! :)

Don’t get trapped by dogma

What is dogma?

Dogma is something that doesn’t change with time. It has consistency.
Dogma is something that is NOT aware of the context. It is independent.

On the other hand…
it does not evolve, or it hardly evolves.
no adaptability.

So you are away from dogma?
I’m not so sure.
Actually, I think that you can’t get away from dogma.

Leaving, for example, religion outside of the equation, I can take as an example, these opposed thoughts:
1) Get away from dogma.
2) Get close to dogma.

Both of them, are dogmatic thoughts.
You may probably have not one, but SEVERAL dogmatic thoughts and/or behaviours.
A dogmatic behaviour, is not inherently bad by itself. Don’t worry.
Some of them may be a problem, but some of them may help!!

Best dogmas are those than make you a better person, and to help others.
Who can be against any of these dogmatic thoughts? Not me, at least! That is for sure.

In my personal case, I usually go through the path of: adaptability, flexibility and evolution.
That’s why I’m not a good friend of (any) dogma.

If you want consistency, independence, dogma may help you! And that’s it from my part. I hope that I’ve helped, or at least, I hope that I have motivated thinking about yourself. And if you wish to share in the shape of a comment, much better! For example:
